Consistently increased income and generated revenue for my clients in excess of over 500 % or 5 times more than my my billing and salary rates. In some cases, over 15 times.
Automated validation procedures implemented into the DSS system I engineered for UPS reported a 40% reduction in revenue and a 55% reduction in volume for customer accounts in the areas surrounding LA, Tampa, Wash. DC and Dallas during the weekend of 3/27/2004. This being abnormally low I thought there was a problem with the ETL and Business Intelligence system I designed. I confirmed the results generated by my ETL system with the data warehouse and then communicated the problem to my manager. The next day I was told that another ETL process used in the data warehouse had dropped approximately 12,000 accounts. Since the data I was loading was at the highest level of detail (grain) I was able to find this $80,000 dollars of lost revenue even though the UPS data warehouse had missed them. This event alone gave UPS a nice return on their investment since the $80,000 paid my consulting fees several times over!
Increased company earnings over $200,000 annually and reduced expenses. As an Oracle Expert Instructor I was asked to join a team of peers whose responsibility was redesigning several Oracle curriculums. My task was the redesign of a 2-course, 7-day data warehouse curriculum that I turned into a 1-course 5-day class. Since I kept all of the core information intact Oracle was able to price the one course at almost the same level as the 2 courses combined. This increased revenues by $10,000 a week per teacher (2 extra days of teaching X $500 average class cost per day X 10 students in class minimum, usually 15-20 students weekly classes), lowered expenses and overhead by freeing up more instructor time to teach other classes, increased class utilization rates and reduced printing and materials costs.
